Unified Sports for Children with Special Needs (Special Olympics)
VFE Foundation launched the Unified Sports project in June 2008, with the aim of building a culture of tolerance and integration towards children with special needs in Egypt.
In partnership with the Friendly Family Association, VFE Foundation supports sports activities and inclusion of special needs children in Egypt.
Introducing for the first time in Egypt, the Unified Sports concept, where teams are made up of special and non special athletes, who compete together in different tournaments.
Project Achievements:
Beneficiaries include 30,000 special needs children and their families across Egypt, NGOs, and members of local communities.
6TH MENA Special Olympics Games - Abu Dhabi 2008
VFE Foundation supported the Egyptian Special Olympics delegation participating in the 6th MENA Regional Games, in Abu Dhabi in November 2008.
More than 100 Egyptian special needs athletes participated in the Regional Tournament, together with 12 delegations from Middle Eastern countries.
VFE decided to support the initiative by committing a group of Vodafone volunteers to take part in the initiative and support the Egyptian delegation in the UAE.
VFE volunteers supported the special needs athletes and all the delegation during the games.
The Special Olympics delegation has returned from Abou Dhabi, winning 73 Medals, 33 Gold, 23 Solver, and 17 Bronze.
